Brent Lukey is an established working photographer based in Melbourne. He’s had the pleasure to photograph film stars, politicians, rock stars and spiritual leaders, but is mostly found capturing stunning interiors and architecture with a natural, editorial style.
When not photographing beautiful houses, Brent walks the streets as a documentary street photographer, fascinated by beauty in reality and moments of synchronicity or connection.
Brent’s work includes commissioned street assignments, editorial interiors and architecture, location and studio portraits, large and small commercial projects, film stills, children’s books, and the occasional wedding or event.
Brent has been a finalist in the Moran Photographic Prize, the Perc Tucker Photographic Portrait Prize and the Australian Photography Awards (documentary). His work has been exhibited in galleries and published in books and magazines.
Brent is available by appointment, so call or email to arrange a meeting, he lives and works in St Kilda.

That’s probably enough, but if you want to know a little more, read on.
Fascinated by culture and storytelling, he studied Anthropology and Cinema Studies at La Trobe University then Film and Multimedia at Swinburne University. Back when music was released on vinyl he played in a cracking and offensive punk rock band, he gave up rock music for 16mm film-making (and won some impressive awards) but found the process expensive, slow and too staged. Still photography – his teenage passion – eventually caught up and took over.
Other than photography he prefers nothing better than camping with his three daughters, eating homemade pizza, drinking pinot noir and hanging out with his partner Donna Bennetts. Donna used to work alongside Brent, styling, rigging, and assisting, but since the birth of their first child (15 years ago) has remained in the office – where she has to listen to him go on and on and on.
He has a current Working with Children Check.
